In the coming days, 18-20 January 2015, Zilmers is going to demonstrate live at Copenhagens Northmodern international fair. Here she will be busy at her workshop with handpainting marble & wood, and introducing the very special Zilmers wallpapers:
Nordic Antique is a collection of contemporary wallpapers with roots in traditional Scandinavian knitting patterns. These patterns are designed as antique tiles and can be combined, mirrored and invented to countless new designs
Zilmers work springs from a deep desire to keep the finest traditions of craftsmanship alive - and to use age-old techniques to create objects of beauty with contemporary relevance.
Zilmers designs, like her workshop, are rooted in Nordic aesthetics through the ages; from the whimsy of historicism and the Scandinavian Arts and Craft movement to the pared-down simplicity of modern era.
As Heidi would say: "We have to remember our roots, but also to combine craftsmanship with the newest technology available to ensure that the skills survive in our hightechnology reality"
